Sonechko Childcare Centre exists to provide high quality child care which promotes the health growth and development of children. Our programs are designed to meet the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of each child. The Centre is operated in accordance with the Day Nurseries act of Ontario and is on full or part-time basis, five days a week.

The supervisor, Anna Garvis, has a wide experience in Early Childhood Education. Our trained staff enables us to have flexible program, where the best possible care can be given to your child. Teachers are aware of children's individual differences and respect these differences.

WE HAVE BEEN VERY PLEASED WITH THE LOVE, CARE AND LEARNING ENVIRONMENT PROVIDED FOR OUR THREE SONS OVER THE YEARS.

Mrs. Anna and her staff have always shown great interest for their work and love to care for children. This has been displayed through the diversity of songs, playing games, teaching stories, tales and poems that our two older boys remember to this day. Our two-year-old waltz's in each morning and wants to stay a little longer when we come to pick him up.

I highly recommend Sonechko to all parents who are looking for someone to care for their child with all the love and attention that children need and should grow up with.

The Sonechko Nursery School and Daycare is a Ukrainian non-profit organization, which commenced operations in 1995 under license No 15071. The school operates out of a facility on 301 Lanor Avenue. Full and part-time enrolments are available.

Sohechko is a special organization in the City of Toronto and is distinguished from others:

Extended hours
Open from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm from Monday to Friday.

Location
There are very few daycare centres or nursery schools in the area, and the current location fulfills a need for such a centre in South Etobicoke.

Self Supporting
The daycare has not received operating subsidies and exists solely from fees collected from parents and other voluntary contributions.

Teaching Staff
The daycare employs highly professionally staff: 5 (five) teachers with ECE qualifications and two assistances with University Diploma from Ukraine.

Food
4 times per day: healthy food such as home made soup, borsh, and etc (Urkanian recepy)

Age

Infants: 12 month;
Todlers: age from 18m to 2.5 years;
Preschool: age from 2.5 years to 5 years.

Amenities
Todlers and preschoolers have separate rooms. Also big gym, big playground and kitchen room are available.

Events

>> Our Community enjoys of concert programs such as: Mother's Day, Father's Day, Halloween, Christmas, Holy Mikolay.

The structure of each day consists of free play, music, singing songs, poetry reading, motor and cognitive, creative, sensory, dramatic, science activities, Mathematics and languages (English, Ukrainian).

Individual work such as: art, poetry, music lessons (piano), writing and reading.

Another aspect is teaching life skills (such as eating, dressing, grooming etc) in order to develop responsibility and independence. The day is divided between active and quiet periods, as well as indoor and outdoor activities. Creativity, initiative and responsibility are built in components of every part of the child's play.

Gardening: beautiful gardening made by children and staff (flowers, tomatoes, cucumbers dill, parsley, onion, garlic and etc).
